For the 2016 Karavaan edition, we are continuing to work on a contemporary, mixed repertoire in the three cities in which Roma and other cultures meet each other musically.
The music is strongly influenced by the Roma in the 3 cities. For Antwerp this is mainly Balkan (Kosovo, Macedonia), for Ghent Central European (Slovakia and the Czech Republic), for Brussels (Bulgaria and Romania). At collective rehearsals everything is brought together into a quirky, swinging intercultural music show.
Result
- 80 participants (number across the 3 cities). Mix of Roma and other cultures.
- 9 presentation moments: in Ghent (Bij De Vieze Gasten, Gentse Feesten), Antwerp (including Terlopleinfeesten Borgerhout and Het Oude Badhuis), Brussels (Plaza Festival).
