Madam Fortuna simply had to be born in 2009. Because she wants to live life to the fullest, without fear.
Sustainable organization
Since its inception in 2009, Luk Nys has been the artistic pioneer of Madam Fortuna. While the organization received project-based support at the start, this has been structural since 2015. Madam Fortuna evolved sustainably:
- from an urban project to a sustainable dialogue with the city
- from working with the Roma community to intercultural music
- talent development as a breeding ground for a diverse artistic team
- young talent as a driving force for innovation
- from a project-based to a structural volunteer policy
- from project-based operation to a structurally recognized organization
From Antwerp to Spain
Our city projects, in close collaboration with various districts, are no longer unknown to the people of Antwerp. MF is firmly rooted in its neighborhood and city. Sustainable collaborations with partners from Ghent and the Waasland region are also gaining a foothold in other regions. There is also a strong bond with many artists from different cultures. We work sustainably with partners from Macedonia (Skopje), Spain (Barcelona), Poland (Goleniów), the Netherlands (Rotterdam and Amsterdam), France (Perpignan and Marseille), Cuba (La Habana), and Congo (Kinshasa). Madam Fortuna achieved more than 40 projects and reached some 50,000 spectators in its first 13 years.
Once bitten, Madam Fortuna will not let you go.
