How do non-European newcomers experience European identity and values? And how can theatre represent this complexity? With these questions as a starting point, Hussein Mahdi Al-Khalidi is conducting practice-based research in various European countries.
Insights are gathered through interviews, group discussions, and theatre workshops and translated into theatrical strategies. During each phase, the findings are shared through showcase moments, culminating in a final lecture performance in Antwerp.
The first research visit to Barcelona has already taken place. He spoke with artists and institutions that promote international collaborations in the performing arts. This visit has not only brought new insights but also opened up possibilities for future collaborations for Madam Fortuna and within the research.
