For our Metropolis project, we are looking for old or broken small electronics – think of mobile phones, lamps, chargers, iPads, keyboards, mice, small speakers…

⚠️ Important:
The material does not need to work anymore. Everything will be taken apart and processed into a unique outfitwhich will then be presented during Dear Antwerp op 20 september at The Kunsthumaniora.

Do you have any small electronics lying around at home that you no longer use and that can be broken down?
Then donate it to our project and give your old devices a second life in a creation about future and fashion!

Create Your/Our Future – Call to Creatives!
Are you fascinated by the future? Driven by art and culture? Are you a maker, a creative at heart? Then we invite you to participate in Metropolis, an inspiring festival about the future, taking place during Dear Antwerp (deSingel) on September 20, 2025, in Antwerp!
We are actively looking for creatives, makers, artists, and thinkers who wish to share their unique perspective on what is to come with us.

Your Universe: Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond
We live in a society that is constantly changing, surprising us, disappearing, bewildering, and inspiring wonder. It is now 2025. What does the present mean to you, and more importantly: what does the future mean? What feelings does it evoke? What do you think? Who are you, and who are 'we' in 2025 and even in 2025? Give us a glimpse of your future universe!

A Stage for Young Talent
We offer a unique stage especially for young makers during Dear Antwerp. Whether you dance, move, perform, write poetry, or act, this is your chance to showcase your talent and make your voice heard!

How to Participate?
Ready to share your vision? Send your registration to info@madamfortuna.be and include the following information:
– Your name and the name of your act
– A brief description of your act
– The amount of performers
– Your phone number
– (Optional) Your biography

We will contact you quickly to discuss all practical details further. We look forward to discovering your unique contribution!

Important Participation Requirements
– Your act may not exceed 7 minutes.
– Instruments will not be amplified.
– Music or sound can be played via USB, computer, or a similar medium.
– Setup time for the act max 5 minutes.
– Projection is possible.
– There is a maximum of 5 participants per act.
Participants must be between 16 and 26 years old.

About the project

RRRRRUMBA is an international project that uses the cultural phenomenon of rumba as a starting point to develop a participatory methodology for intercultural community building.

Through three field studies involving a unique set of partner organizations, we actively connect different Rumbero communities in Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Together, we aim to explore the cultural distinctiveness of this unique art form and its know-how for cultural participation.

Through the joint organization of three festivals with workshops and performances, and one traveling exhibition, we want to give a tangible boost to preserving this heritage, encouraging contemporary expressions of it, and connecting this art form with new audiences.

We are also focused on building a sustainable expert network and developing a unique participatory methodology. This methodology will be useful in the European and global cultural sector to connect individuals and communities from diverse backgrounds in an inclusive, horizontal, and co-creative way.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently seeking a graphic designer to visually shape the project. Specifically, you will create a series of communication tools for use by the project partners in both overall and individual communications.

These tools must reflect the cultural diversity of the various communities and countries involved, with attention to language diversity as well. Familiarity with the participating countries and communities, or being a member of a rumba community, is a plus.

Deliverables (subject to expansion):

* Logo

* Style guide, including fonts, color schemes, etc., which will also form the basis for the website’s design website layout and design

* Social media templates, including usable frames

* Graphic elements for a final publication on the project’s research

These tools will be developed in consultation with the project coordinators.

Profile and Timeline
